THE WONDERFUL AND MYSTERIOUS THOUGHTS OF GOD IN THE LIVES OF THE WORKERS OF LIGHT

This article examines the lexical and theological relationship between Psalm 139:14 and 139:17, arguing that the Hebrew terms pala ("wonderfully made") and yaqar ("precious") function as a deliberate pairing that structures the psalm's theological anthropology. The research problem is twofold: existing scholarship treats these verses as separate doxological moments rather than a unified statement, and the application of Psalm 139 to vocational identity remains underdeveloped. The study employs a canonical-linguistic exegetical framework supplemented by historical-lexical analysis, integrating insights from theological anthropology. The analysis demonstrates that the psalmist's movement from self-knowledge to God-knowledge grounds human dignity in divine intentionality rather than in anthropocentric self-affirmation. The study proposes the "Wonderful-Mysterious Framework," a unified exegetical model that reinterprets vocational identity through divine intentionality, offering a corrective to both anthropocentric and deterministic readings. This framework constructs a theological foundation for the concept of "workers of light"—believers who understand their labor as participation in divine purposes. The contribution is both exegetical and constructive: it establishes the lexical-theological link between verses 14 and 17 and applies this link to vocational theology. The study is limited to textual analysis without empirical data; future research may test the framework in pastoral and vocational contexts.
